Omega Girl: Origins Part 3

As the years went by Maria got into the Omega City Conservatory of Ballet. Her room is filled with vintage Superwoman memorabilia. She also continued her training with Dimitri and became a master of her telekinetic abilities. This was her Freshman year and today the world was abuzz about a Superwoman sighting in Delta City.

Maria raced home that day excited. “Mama! Compile all news stories, videos and interviews of today’s Superwoman sighting! Send them to my tablet!” she yells as soon as she runs in. She spent the next hour studying everything about the massive crane collapse and subsequent arrival of Superwoman on the scene. She watched the news footage of Superwoman flying down with an injured man in her arms to the EMTs. She marveled at how she one handed the falling crane arm and flew it up top. She even watched the statement her Uncle Mike put out about the accident since it was a HERROS-MASHER construction project. Ever since Uncle Mike bought her that Superwoman doll she was obsessed and now Superwoman was back!

The weekly reports of Superwoman taking down powerful villains read like a shopping list. Fear Man, Atomic Fist, Power Sync and even Chlorokill. Not to mention the everyday criminals she was putting away daily. She was amazed at how the reputation of Delta City had changed almost overnight. Then other superheroines came on the scene like Latina Heat and Night Woman all aided by the hardcore detective Rebecca Hunt. But the most impressive was Superwoman’s first take down. The infamous Alonzo The Conquistador Moralez. The very villain that killed the Superwoman of the 80’s/90’s. That whole story became an international scandal when it was revealed the Justice League was corrupt and accepting bribes just like Uncle Mike said all those years ago.

Maria was inspired and she wanted to be like her idol Superwoman. So she decided one day to try a night patrol of Omega City. Her city wasn’t a notorious crime riddled cesspool like Delta City was, but the financial crisis was still happening and crime was on the rise. So she put on her white ballet leotard from the Conservatory which already had a blue Omega symbol printed on it. She put on her blue ballet flats and a blue eye mask she had from Halloween. She finished it off with white dance tights and a tiny blue shoulder cape. It looked amateur when compared to the established superheroines, but she thought it looked great.

She waited until midnight and put on her costume. Mama was recharging and Dimitri was asleep. She opened her bedroom window and levitated herself outside and onto the tallest building she could find. She had her smart phone with her and she created a YouTube account under the name “Hero Girl.”

She levitated her phone and made it follow her around like a drone. She could make it record whenever she wanted. Tonight was her very first post as “Hero Girl”.

“Hey YouTubers! Hero Girl here. I’m a hero in Omega City and I’m taking you guys on patrol with me. Let’s see what’s going on in the city!” she says as the phone records hovering and following. She jumps off the ledge and the phone records her flying through the sky. The first video was just a couple minutes long. There wasn’t anything going on so she stopped recording.

“This was a dumb idea.” she thinks to herself as she decided an hour flying around a safe city was a waste of time. There was a drunk guy the cops took into protective custody, a false alarm at the supermarket and an illegally parked car.

She records again. “Hey YouTube! pretty slow night looks like I’m going home. No hero work tonight. Bye bye!” she says while flying away. Suddenly she hears police sirens and sees lights in the distance. Then she hears popping sounds which she was pretty sure was gunfire. She flies over and sees two police cars chasing a get away car filled with men who just robbed a liquor store. They were shooting at officers and the cop driving got hit. The cruiser veered hard right and hit a guard rail then flipped over.

“Oh my God!” she yells out as the whole thing is recorded. Before the cruiser hits the ground and crushes the cops Maria raised her hand and suspended the car then turned it right side up. “Did you guys see that? Wow I just helped those cops not get crushed!” she says at her phone.

Then she flies off to follow the rest of the chase. The crooks side swipe a car and lose control and crash into a pole. The last cruiser stops and draw thier guns, but one cop is hit and falls down. The second cop is pinned down with 4 armed crooks getting a bead on him. “You’re going down pig!” they yell as bullets riddle the car.

Maria lifts all four crooks into the air and smashes them together knocking them out and collecting their guns in a pile near the cop. The cops looks around confused as Maria hovers in the sky watching. She hears backup coming and flies off.

“Oh my God that was sick! Did you guys see all that? They were like bang bang and the car flipped and I stopped it then they were all crash bang bang and I smashed them all together and the officer was all huh? What? And I’m so pumped up right now! Okay it’s late guys. This is Hero Girl saying stay strong and be a hero! Bye!”

Maria continues running her Hero Girl channel on the weekends. Despite some pretty amazing feats most people believe that “Hero Girl” is a fake and everything is special effects.

The Hero Girl channel flies under the radar and has very few views. Two years into her weekend outings she is devastated to hear the news that the international super villain BadGuy was actually her Uncle Mike and now he’s locked up in Delta City’s Ultramax Prison for 10 lifetimes.

It kept getting worse as President Drumph was elected and started proposing outlawing superheroines and building walls. Then Latina Heat of all people sides with Drumph’s insane border wall even agreeing that people south of the border were rapists and drug dealers. Then MAGAforce was created by Drumph. Everything was turning on its head and it seemed the world stopped making sense.

The following week the news was reporting about a crisis in Delta City. Superwoman was battling MAGAforce alone and the Ultramax Prison has been opened up and dangerous villains were heading right for downtown Delta City. A few chopper clips showed Superwoman fighting MAGAforce and winning, but the federal government made it a no fly zone.

Maria put on her costume and flew to Delta City as fast as she could. “I just hope I can help!” she thought to herself.
