Omega Girl: Origins Part 1

1999 in a rural town just outside of Moscow. Dimitri and his pregnant wife plan for a future filled with hope. A new baby on the way and a new family beginning. The USSR now a memory as a hopeful democracy takes root. The couple in their mid forties retired and ready to raise a family.

Dimitri is a gifted scientist who specializes in androids. His robots are so lifelike and intelligent he begins getting international attention. His wife Raya is a simple homemaker who spent her earlier life as a “KGB asset”. That night, as they sat by the fireplace a knock at the front door startled them. Dimitri opens the door to see several former KGB agents asking for Raya. She walks to the door and asks what they want.

“Raya, your skills are needed once again for Mother Russia. We need The Red Ghost.” The lead agent says.
“Nyet, I no longer work for KGB. KGB no longer exists and I am pregnant to be mother soon. You leave.” she replies.

The former agents mumble amongst themselves all pointing at Raya’s pregnant belly. “When will baby be born?” they ask.

“Next year, two months from now.” she replies.

“Very well, Raya, you are owned by KGB property. We come back for baby and you will work with us for more missions.”

Raya nods in agreement as she realizes there is no reasoning with these men. The men leave.

“Raya, this country is changing, but it is full of corruption still. We cannot raise baby in this place. We must go to America. KGB will want you to use your power to kill… Again! ” Dimitri says.

“Dimitri, America will not take me. I am Red Ghost. They know what I have done in the name of Mother Russia.” Raya says.

“We must try Raya! You know many KGB secrets and my androids are very sought after. We have special skills. We must try! For the sake of our baby!” Dimitri says.

Two months later a healthy baby girl is born to Dimitri and Raya. They name her Maria. Dimitri has made little progress obtaining visas for his family to flee and the agents would be coming for his family anytime now. Raya, on the other hand, has connections from her years of international espionage.

“Dimitri, I made deal with American businessman. He is powerful and will make legal papers quickly from his connections. You will make robots for him and he will give you and Maria good life as citizen of America.” she says.

“That is good news my love. We will be safe in America. Our baby will have good life.” Dimitri says happily.
“We leave tonight on American plane in field.” Raya explains.
That night as they packed a military convoy rolls up to their home. “Raya we must go now, they are here!” Dimitri yells as Raya scoops up baby Maria. “We leave through back door!” Dimitri yells.

The men start pounding on the door. Then they kick it in. “Red Ghost! You are coming with us!”

“Dimitri take Maria” Raya says handing her baby off. Then she raises her hands and the two men are telekinetically thrown back. “Go! Go!” she yells to Dimitri as they run out of the back of the house. The family runs through the field as the Russian military gives chase.

“We cannot outrun them Raya!” Dimitri yells out. “Just keep running!” Raya yells as she forces trees to topple over slowing down the convoy. Two Russian tanks break through the log jam and continue. The tanks start to shell the family. In response Raya sent the shells back at the convoy taking out two trucks filled with soldiers.
“Dimitri, plane is over the ridge. Go now!” Raya says as she turns around to face the coming army. Dimitri looks at her confused while holding Maria. He could see the plane with a man in a white suit standing in the door waving.

“Raya? What are you doing? We go to America together as family!” Dimitri asks as he watches her hold her hand up and hold back shell after shell. The convoy is stopped behind a wall of telekinesis as bullets, grenades and missles are all held in mid air.

Raya turns to him lovingly with tears in her eyes. “No my love, military will destroy plane. I will give you time to leave. Go now or I will make you go. Give Maria a good life in America.”
Dimitri kisses his wife tearfully. “I will love no other woman for the rest of my days.” he says. “You will love our daughter.” she replies as she lifts her other arm holding back the Russian military. “Dimitri! Teach her well.” Raya says.

Dimitri runs for the plane with Maria in his arms.  The man in the white suit welcomes them into the plane. After a quick conversation about his wife they close the door and the planes engines fire up.

Raya watches as the plane starts to taxi off. She holds the military back with increasing difficulty. Her nose starts to bleed as she screams in rage at the men trying to kill her family.
“RED GHOST! SURRENDER NOW! YOU ARE PROPERTY OF KGB!” The Captain in charge booms his voice over the loudspeaker.

“NYET!” she replies as explosion after explosion slam into her telekinetic wall. Finally the plane takes flight and rockets into the night sky. Red Ghost can no longer hold the military back as her wall collapses a massive fireball consumes her and the resulting shockwave blows back the military in a mushroom cloud of energy.

On the jet Dimitri sits in a seat holding his baby. It is a highly advanced luxurious aircraft. The man in white looks out the window as he views the mushroom cloud on the ground. Then he looks at Dimitri.

“Dimitri, I’m sorry about your wife. Red Ghost was a good friend of mine. I truly admired her work.”
Dimitri just looked off distantly before realizing his sponsor was talking to him. “I’m sorry, I…I’m in shock. Forgive me. What was your name again?” Dimitri asks.

“No, forgive me Dimitri. You can call me Mike… Mike White.” He says while looking at baby Maria. “Is your baby special like her mother? Does she have the gift?” he asks.

“No, Mr. White. She is quite ordinary. No abilities.” Dimitri responds.

“That’s too bad. Listen Dimitri, I can set you up in any city you want. New York, LA, Chicago…” Mike White says.
“Omega City… I want to live in Omega City. They have the best ballet conservatory. Raya wanted our baby to learn ballet.” Dimitri responds.
Mike smiles. “You Russians sure do love your ballet. You got it. Once you’re settled in we’ll get your robotics lab up and running. Looking forward to having your exclusive androids in my organization.” He says.

“Mr. White, you are obviously a rich man. But are you a good man?” Dimitri asks.

Mike smiles at this question. “Dimitri, in America the good guys wear white.”
