1985:
In the living room of a typical home in the picturesque suburbs of Delta City a mother and her twin daughters perform an ancient family ritual.
“Daughter, at the age of 20, I willingly and with no reservations give to you the family artifacts of power.” Said the mother of Jacqueline Circa.
“Mother, I willingly accept the family artifacts of power and promise to honor the bloodline as my ancestors have before me as The Defender” Said the gorgeous brunette woman. She was wearing a white T shirt with black leggings and short black boots. Draped on the chair next to her was her short leather jacket. Standing next to Jacqueline was her twin sister Joyce Circa. Placing the red jeweled belt on her waist and red jeweled choker on her neck she stood there in a power stance.
“I’m so excited for you Jackie! You’re going to be a totally rad defender!“ Said Joyce.
“Thanks Joyce, I can’t wait to get out there and keep Delta City clean of criminal scum.”
“Did you choose a crime fighting outfit?“ Asked the excited Joyce.
Jackie opened her bag and pulled out a red medium cut leotard with long sheer sleeves, and upper chest which came to her lower neck with just enough room to place the choker. The crotch was a 3 metal snap button. Then she pulled out nude toned shimmery dance tights and red high heeled leather boots that came just below the knees. Then a red eye mask and long red spandex gloves.
“Wow, Jackie, you’re going to look so sexy! What about lipstick and eyeshadow?“ Exclaimed the excited Joyce.
“Well I’m thinking of going with very dark eyes as a contrast to the red mask then I’m going to put streaks of glitter starting at the sides of my mask and continue it into my hair. Plus I’m doing super red wet look lipstick. ” (80’s hair was big and full of hairspray).
“Ahem, Jackie, I know you’re excited to begin taking on Delta City’s thugs, but you need to continue your training. Specifically your ability to recall the artifacts telepathically. It’s the one area you’re lacking in and if a villain manages to remove your artifacts you’ll be utterly helpless and at his mercy.” Cautioned the Mother.
“Oh mom, you’re such a worry wort! Okay I’ll practice that when I have time, but do you really think any of these thugs can get close to me with my powers? Or even know about the artifacts being the source of my powers? I’m basically invincible mom.”
“You’re not invincible. Don’t make me regret passing the artifacts to you. Evil Men will be more than happy to humiliate and degrade you given the chance. ” Warned the mother.
“Mom, I’m totally going to practice my telekinetics, but right now I need to get in my costume, makeup and hair together so I can set my flash transformation ability. I don’t want to be one of those lame Superheroines who wears their costume under their civilian clothes, so lame!”
1990:
5 years into her crime fighting career has been a breeze. She is undefeated and hasn’t met a criminal who could make her break a sweat. Superwoman is single handedly responsible for making Delta City the safest city in America. The Justice League asked her to become a member, but she declined stating she prefers to be an independent Superheroine. Despite her opposition to The Justice League she becomes close friends with The Batman.
1992:
Drugs begin showing up in Delta City for the first time. Nobody knows how the drugs are getting in. Rumblings of a new king pin running the underworld permeate the city.
1993:
Alonzo “The Conquistador” Moralez poses as a legitimate businessman, but is well known as the person responsible for the influx of drugs on the street. Law enforcement is unable to make anything stick despite overwhelming evidence. Corruption begins to enter the police department as cops go on The Conquistadors payroll. Superwoman is putting criminals in jail nightly only to see them back on the street again in a month. Taking down The Conquistador is her top priority.
1994:
Superwoman is absent from crime fighting for almost 9 months. The Batman is seen around Delta City during that time keeping the streets safe and furthering the investigation into The Conquistador. Evidence leads to The Conquistador moving drugs into Delta City by unloading drugs from a cargo ship at sea then sailing in from the North to avoid suspicion of trafficking. An ingenious and effectively simple plan. Superwoman and the law are closing in and she plans on making her arrest soon. Josephine Circa is born later that year.
1995:
A video of a captured Superwoman is circulated around the underworld. In the video Superwoman is on her knees with her hands tied behind her back. She is bloodied, debooted and her costume is torn. All the men in the video are wearing masks to conceal their identities. A man is standing in front of her holding a gun to her still masked face. Superwoman is seen in the video sobbing and saying “Please… don’t kill me.” The man pulls the trigger and shoots Superwoman in the face. Superwoman falls to her back lifeless. Another man stands over the murdered Superwoman with a shotgun and shoots her face multiple times. The men laugh and just before the video goes black the leader is heard saying “Closed casket for the Superbitch.”
Superwomans mutilated body is found on the steps of City Hall. Her funeral was closed casket. Everyone knows The Conquistador has done the unbelievable and killed Superwoman. Identification of her body was impossible and the true identity of Superwoman will never be known.
Jaqueline Circa was reported missing by her mother and sister. She is presumed dead and the case is eventually cold due to lack of leads. Joyce and her mother are now raising Jaqueline’s daughter, Josephine.
1996:
The mother dies from grief and guilt over Jacqueline. Joyce is now raising little Josephine alone. She protects Josephine and makes her take martial arts classes at a young age. Delta City is spiraling down, especially the inner city. The suburbs remain decent which is where Joyce and Josephine live. A bronze Superwoman Memorial statue is gifted to the city by Bruce Wayne.
Superheroines have not appeared in Delta City since Superwoman was murdered. The Conquistador has his hands in everything. It is his city.
